week13-14

Firtsly the most striking fact that comes on my mind is that we have arrived to the last week and the end of the drawing prohect.
I would sum up this semester and the advancements I suppose I went through and my general feelings about this subject.

Personally I guess I went through a process of getting to know how an artist works in his workshop via experiencing the class atmosphere but not the individual intetntions of making the piece of work. ( but those intetntions may be transmitted later on the art lessions, when learning in deeper dimensions about an artist) However seeing and feeling the conditions in which the artist works was useful, in observing the techniques and probably recognising them in the future. Why the artist does it so and what effect he/she reaches through it.

As for the topics I consider them to be life like as we did the autumn subjects (at autumn time:) and the live model, via studiing parts of the body how it should be drawn.
As for the last part she, our live model, was the most challangning and toughest part, but I do say that it was good to have her besides our 'voluntary'class-mate modells.

So by now I guess the basic things in me are there to understand why an artist drew something as the artist does and not the other way, as I've also explored some rules in drawing which I didn't even think to exist before. For example the depth of anatomy-knowledge required for human portraits and the proper knowledge of other objects.

So all in all I would like to say thank you for Mr. Herman for transmitting this knowledge and I guess it was worth doing because of it.

Week11-12, Live model

Getting serious... as for our models for sure...one of the last lessions have brought for me for sure something challenging and new.
This was a live model, not from our class, but the one who strikes poses for pupils arround the drawing lessions in town and really has an intresting body to draw... don't misunderstand it but the tense skin of a supermodel and the balanced outline of her's would be just hundred times easier to draw and wouldn't require so much attention in exicuting the details. Whereas she did challange me to do so.
The anatomy also counts a lot in accomplishing the drawing, so that the proportions of the face and body were a though point for me.
Firstly, the eye and the ears meant something misterious for me and did not want to fit till the second lession, however I would not say that they look perfect now, but measuring it to my skills and the beggining they do look more alive and less monster-like.
The rest of the body was quite okay for me, so I would not complain for that.

Portrait

First of all lets begin with the subject of the blog which covers 3 lessions, themed as Portrait.
I really had time indeed to observe my 'victims' face and their head as we were 2draw portraits for 3lessions...

The thing which has really striked on me was that I realized that I even would not be able to draw my face by hearth. You really need a rather stiff modell to copy from and to measure the proportions on the page. That was one of the most difficult things to do,to line up my modell. Due to the 3 opportunities I also picked 3 models. 2of them I draw without colour and one was painted.
The technique in this context was really new to me, but the mixing of colours has dawn on me and the use of layers indicated a new kind of skill for me: the ability to present almost all the colurs by mixing various pigments.

As for the execution I suggest that I came closer to have the kind of view and eye towards looking at faces now at a situation when it is about to draw them, however it does not mean that I am the finest drawer but just simply the fact that I'm looking for those lines and characteristics on the face which count at the proper drawing of them.

Colours of the autumn and my Hand

So lets begin with the work of last week when colours were to be applied... Pretty tedious issue colouring a balck and white drawing, less with photoshop:p
In my point of view the glass got a better lookalike in blue but the chestnuts could remain grey emphasizing the bottle and its entity. However the drapery was left to be a kind of vagroundish thing by leaving it blackis and whiteish.. The conclusion is that next time when I am to colour something I'll do only the main lines with pencil and the rest by coloured ones or tempera.

As for my hand it has surprised me really indeed. I mean not in a way that is so easy to draw, in the contrary... it was soo complex.. I even can't imagine how the whole body should be drawn now..:p So to be seriuos the instructions of Levente helped me to understand how I should dealt with the hand by the end and from a kind of 45 degree angle it is the hardest to draw it. So I've choosen the wrong angle, that's why the proportions are a bit confused..

Autumn is here

Having finished the curvy lines and smooth shapes of the last drawing, where the rough boxes were wrapped into the symbols of the fall were on stage.

These were chstnuts, dry leafes and a bottle with a glass for me. The shape of the nuts and their position has surproised me, because I considered it to cause me problem how to place them on the paper but they "behaved" well and I managed to place them decoratively.
As for the glass it did make me to think once again what circle and oval means:D Similar was the issue of the bottle which even had a neck and a transcluent material. I've choosen the way of emhasizing the lines and hopefully also visible the reflection of light.

Cubes and clothes

At this lessions close to the former one we continued the cubes but from an other point of view. They were hidden under a rough piece of cloth. This brownish things has determined my lession and work in full details, fighting with the shades and shapes:)

The first thing which I had to realize was that I have to make the cubes for first and not the cloth to look nice and use the editing techniques to do it.
And then came the tough and tedious job... fill out the colours in black and white and highlight the most interresting parts of the object.

To finish it perfectly (as I can do my best) I still need some lines to complete but the drawing is at the finish line now:)

Qubes

Now its time to post a blog between 2 drawing lessions, as it got quite crowded at this weekend.

The first task, to make a perspective of diversally set qubes sounds easy but in practice...
The part when we had to draw in freestyle was a relaxing one, however some shading and errors of paralellity have occured. To begin the work with pencil was a really good idea and time saving, less it would've taken a day to finish a smart looking work.
Next, I wouldn't consider it as a teamwork rather an individual challengement where you get some good ideas from your classmates, or even get down when you see some Picassos among us.

The second part was something more rational like with the usage of the ruler and the clear instructions, however still inquired your skills and view in 3D when adjusting the lines together just as it is in real in front of you.

My first impressions at drawing

Firstly let me give you a short introduction of myself.I'm a first year IBS Arts Management student and art lover by myself. Which means for me that in my spare-time looking at some peces of art products mainly painting, pictures or any kind of tactile material takes me far from reality and I began dreaming in my own galaxy.

Comming back to earth and drawing I should say that I'm mostly a kind of person who enjoys the paintings, drawings etc. cause by myself I can't really allege that I'm a perfect painter. But streetart interrests me pretty much and I also had some trials on its field in a more or less artistic way.

I'm expecting an interresting trip on the field of canvas in this couple of weeks and I hope I can learn the right usage of various painting materials.

Looking forward doing the 1st challenging task.
